Honorable [INSERT LEGISLATOR'S NAME],
Open and honest elections represent one of the important aspects of the free society we have in America and in Tennessee. Prior to 1961, Tennessee had no signature requirements for new parties to gain access to the ballot. At no time prior to the introduction of ballot access requirements in Tennessee, did Tennessee have more than six parties on the ballot. Restrictions on ballot access are universally viewed as a violation of basic human rights. Currently Tennessee has the 7th most restrictive ballot access requirements in the United States. Representative Jason Powell and Senator Jim Kyle have introduced HB 958 and SB 1091 that corrects the injustice of current restrictive ballot access laws in Tennessee. Ballot access in not a partisan issue, it is a human rights issue. Ballot access is an issue of insuring the protection of individual freedom. Ballot access is an important issue. The Constitution Party of Tennessee, the Green Party of Tennessee, and the Libertarian Party of Tennessee support reforming ballot access in Tennessee. Please consider cosponsoring HB 958 and SB 1091.
